Design Narrative

Binh Tuan is characterized by low rainfall and picturesque dunes by the sea.  It is a landscape shaped by waves.  The most iconic plant within this landscape is the Dragon Fruit cactus (Thanh Long). 

The design was inspired by this natural environment.  The main colors of the landscape are white and magenta – the colors of the flower and fruit of dragon fruit cactus. These colors and shapes of the original landscape are emphasized in the design details (statuary, paving, benches, planters, etc.).

Environmental Benefits

Water scarcity prevails at the site and much was done to reduce primary water demand.  By planting cacti and succulents and other low water demanding plants and introducing drip irrigation water demand was kept low.  Water capture and recycling was used to reduce water demand to net zero.
