DESIGN NARRATIVE

This project’s site was an abandoned quarry that had previously been utilized as a construction waste dump. There was little or no topsoil, necessitating the development of a soil-building strategy. A mix of nitrogen-fixing trees and creepers was chosen to gradually improve soil quality. To have a more immediate and aesthetic impact, Landmarks created a system of concrete boards that could be stacked like Legos and then used as planters. The ancient quarry pond was used to its full potential. Decking and a swimming pool were installed. The prefabricated mini-houses were then displayed on their platforms for visitors and potential customers.
